Dennis, the Spirit will never give up on you!! never. God loves you!!
We can never be good enough, people are sinners. And we may not like it. Paul said what he wills to do that he does no do and what he wills not to do that he does.

Ephesians 2 says we are saved by grace. "For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. " (Romans 6:23)
Every weekness we face JEsus has compassion, He has been through every temptation we have and can sympthasize with us. (Hebrews 4 last few verses)

Jesus said: "It is finished!" Our salvation is won! :) Jesus does not want us to be angry at our selves, HE wants us to repent sincerly with sorrow and anguish but knowing that He forgives us through His death on the cross. He does not want us to beat ourselves up. He wants us to rejoice in Him, and talk to Him and be in a intimate caring protecting Father - son relationship with Him, and sometimes than means discipline. Stop looking inwardly, because all you will find is sadness and imperfection look outwardly and upwardly to Jesus and you will be marvelled by Jesus holy and perfect ways, and His deep love for you.
"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zeph 3:17 :)
