How to Survive the Loss of a Love
Melba Colgrove

First I should say that I included How to Survive the Loss of a Love by Melba Colgrove in my recommended reading list based on a 30 year-old edition. While the new edition still has many people giving rave reviews on Amazon, there are also those who say the new edition includes too many annoying self-promotions for the author’s other books. However the older edition is still available on Amazon for those who would like to avoid the promos.

The wonderful thing about this book is that it has been very helpful for those who don’t love reading or find it hard to read in the midst of their grief. Rather than full pages of text, the book is written as a combination of topical bullet point lists and poems reflecting deep emotion. For this reason it has been used by hospice in grief groups for many years.
