Turn My Mourning into Dancing by Henri Nouwen

by M. Cuttill-Price
(Illinois)

After losing my husband unexpectedly in 2005, Turn My Mourning into Dancing rescued my broken soul. I re-read it every 6 months or so and I have several copies on hand for those unfortunate enough to walk the same road...

Thanks so much for sharing this suggestion. I have this book on my "to read" list. I hear it is wonderful and am looking forward to reading it.

Henri Nouwen's writings are usually so thought-provoking and meaningful that I can read a page or two at a time and feel like I've got something to savor and keep me going for a while. I'm sure this one will be the same.

For those looking for more info, the back cover says: "This deeply comforting, deeply realistic book, gleaned from the unpublished writings of the beloved author, lecturer, and pastor Henri Nouwen, focuses not on how we can survive hard times, but how we can live fully in the midst of them and beyond.

Drawn from the deep well of Nouwen's experience as a pastor, a teacher, and a thinker, it offers solace without platitudes. Ever practical, never pat or simplistic, it gently points the way toward a way of life that is grounded in God's constancy and rooted in eternal hope--the kind of life that can dance even in the middle of the darkest night."

Thanks again for the suggestion. I'm looking forward to reading it even more!
