poem for a deceased father

I wrote this soon after my dad died. He would sit on a certain chair in the living room. We missed him sitting there.

The Empty Chair

I wish you were there
In that empty chair
With your snow white hair
Just sitting there~

I wish you were there
To show you we care
It's too hard to bear
You're just not there~

Instead, you're with Him
And your eyes aren't dim
And you're sound in limb
And I know it's a whim~

But, I wish you were there
In that empty chair
With your snow white hair
Just sitting there~
